Letterpress Basics: Printing with Polymer Plates

from 200.00

Perfect for printing greeting cards, fine art prints, or soft bound journal covers, this class will guide you through the process of turning your original artwork into a texturally pleasing letterpress print. If you are an artist who sells your work at galleries or shows, this class is wonderful for creating printed work that you can sell during your art opening.

Classes are held over two consecutive Saturday evenings (6pm - 9pm). New sessions begin monthly. We will send you a follow up email to coordinate the exact dates that work for you.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This two-day course provides an introduction to letterpress printing on the platen press. Students will be shown examples of letterpress prints and will become familiar with options for their own designs. Students will be guided in proper procedures for inking, impression, preparing paper, and the safe operation of the press.
Each student will come to class with a drawing, and learn how to mix inks, and set up a letterpress machine for registration and printing.
Students will be expected to clean up after themselves and also assist in duties common to the class as a whole.
