Letterpress Basics: Setting Type

from 200.00

Turn your written handywork into printed notecards, fine art prints, book covers, or bookmarks.  This informative class will introduce you to moveable type, one of the oldest forms of printing dating back to the 15th century.

Classes are held over two consecutive Saturday evenings (6pm - 9pm). New sessions begin monthly. We will send you a follow up email to coordinate the exact dates that work for you.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This two-day course provides an introduction to letterpress printing on the platen press. Students will be shown examples of letterpress prints and will become familiar with options for their own designs. Students will be guided in proper procedures for setting movable type, inking, preparing paper, and the safe operation of the press.
Students will be expected to clean up after themselves and also assist in duties common to the class as a whole.
